Description:

A reproduction of one of the rarest flintlock models in history, this left-handed Napoleonic flintlock pistol was purpose-built for soldiers and sailors who needed to draw and fire with the left hand, keeping the right hand free to wield a cutlass or saber. By placing the lock on the left side of the pistol, the mechanism was prevented from snagging on clothing or a belt when drawing in combat. Each piece features an engraved lock and butt plate, finished in a rich faux brass that captures the prestige of the Napoleonic era.

Historical Background:

Left-handed flintlock pistols were among the most specialized and sought-after sidearms of the Napoleonic period. Naval officers and cavalry troopers who fought with a blade in their dominant right hand required a pistol that could be drawn and discharged with the left, making these pieces both tactically essential and exceptionally rare. Their distinctive reversed lock placement is a hallmark of the finest European gunmakers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Product Features:

  • Rare Left-Handed Design: Lock positioned on the left side for draw-and-fire with the left hand, keeping the right hand free for a blade.
  • Engraved Lock and Butt Plate: Decorative engraving throughout for an authentic, period-accurate appearance.
  • Faux Brass Finish: Rich brass-toned finish replicating the prestige metalwork of Napoleonic-era pistols.
  • Perfect for Display and Collecting: Ideal for Napoleonic, colonial, and Age of Sail collectors, reenactors, and film productions.
  • Non-Firing and Legal to Own: No FFL required. Cannot chamber or fire live ammunition.
